The tag properties offered in the Sportal365 CMS serve as features designed to visually enrich the look of tag pages on your website and optimize them for search engines.

Info

Remember that when you create a tag, you can create a tag page on your website that consists of all posts related to that tag. The content properties help you optimize the tag and the page associated with it.

Optimizing a tag

Follow the steps below to learn how to optimize the tags you create. Here’s how:

...

Expand
titleMedia tab

The Media tab is where you upload a Main media for your tags. The Main image is the image that will appear as a header (or main media) of your tag page.

Info

Note that when you optimize the media of a tag you have created, you optimize the way the page consisting of all posts related to the tag will look like.

To optimize your tag media:

  1. Expand the Media tab , to select tag media.

2. If you want to upload new Main main image(s), select Upload new images.

3. To upload already existing images in the system as Main main image(s), select Toggle already uploaded images.

4. To change the main media to a video or gallery, expand the Choose Main Media box and select from the options.

Info

Note that once you select an image as main media, you can crop it by selecting Crop image.

Expand
titleURLs tab

By optimizing the tag’s URLs tab, you tell search engines what tag pages of your website to index in special and what not. This feature is especially helpful in cases such as advertising campaigns and duplicated content.

To optimize your tag’s URLs tab:

  1. Expand the URLs tab.

2. In the External URL box, paste the URL to an external source you want to send users to.

Note

This is especially useful in advertising campaigns. It means that when you click on a tag, say “transfer rumors”, you won’t be redirected to a page consisting of all posts related to the tag, but to the external URL, you have input.

3. Next, expand the Type of redirect to select if you want your redirect to be permanent/temporary.

Note

This determines whether to permanently send search engines/users to the external URL or temporary for the lasting of an advertising campaign for example.

4. Lastly, if you want to avoid duplicating content, select the Canonical URL box and paste the preferred URL you want search engines to index.

The use of canonical URLs helps you tell search engines what specific page to index in cases where you have duplicating or similar content on your website.

For more information, see URLs in the Content properties for specific content titles.
