In this section, you will find answers to questions about the features of the Sportal365 content management system.

What content types does Sportal365 support?

The Sportal365 CMS lets journalists/editors create and manage four major types of content:

  • Articles

  • Videos

  • Galleries

  • Images

All content types follow a similar creation and optimization logic and can be displayed as a separate entity on your website.

In addition, all types of content can be mix-used; articles can contain videos, images, and galleries, and vice versa.

See Support for various content types.

 What is "Blocky"?

“Blocky” is an advanced editor that helps journalists customize and enhance their content. Generally speaking, “Blocky” is the body of articles, videos, and galleries created with the Sportal365 CSM.

Blocky allows creators to write and edit in “blocks”, each with a set of editing, formatting, and widget options. It’s a break from the standard WYSIWYG editor with one big what you see what you get area.

Blocky is inspired by the Gutenberg editor used in WordPress-powered sites (See integration between Sportal365 and WordPress) to make the process of content creation simpler, more reliable, and intuitive for users.

See About Blocky.

What is the advantage of writing/editing in blocks?

The “Blocky” editor offers a myriad of features that let you easily create, edit, and optimize content so that it's indexed by search engines, and displayed natively on all devices.

Writing in blocks improves the speed of content creation because of the faster processing of data by the system. It’s a bit like building the structure of your content with LEGO. Each block has specific functions and an editing panel to enable you to structure and customize your content.

Blocky lets you highlight important passages, insert contextual widgets and football statistics, copy/paste blocks, as well as combine various types of content inside the body of articles, videos, and galleries.

What features does Sportal365 offer for content optimization?

The Sportal365 CMS offers several features to optimize the articles, videos, and galleries you create.

With the help of specifically designed content-property tabs, you can optimize your posts for search engines, add media and related reading, as well as redirect readers to an outside URL.

See Content properties for specific content titles--> Media, Related content, SEO, URLs.

How is content organized/categorized with Sportal365?

The Sportal365 CMS lets you structure, organize, and navigate content on your website by using Categories, Tags, Lists, Authors, and Statistical entities.

In more details:

Categories group the content on your site into general topics so that visitors can understand what your website is about and easily find what they are looking for.

Tags describe your posts in more detail and focus on specific topics, like keywords used for topics discussed in a post. With tags, you can organize your content in a page that lists all the posts using a certain tag.

Lists enable you to group several articles, videos, or galleries under a common theme and display them in a certain place on your website.

Authors is a feature that not only allows you to credit the posts you create but also organize and categorize them by a specific author. This means that you can display all posts written by a certain author on your website, say, show all posts by “tipsters” or authors who write content with betting tips.

Statistical entities is a group term for all the statistical information that comes from the Football API and can be used to tag your content. Statistical entities are a type of statistical tags, also called “Football connections”, used to specify to which match, player, or team a certain news article is related to.

See Categorization & organization of content.

What widgets can I use in my content?

Now, the Sportal365 content management system lets creators integrate 12 sports-focused statistical widgets with more than 40 configurations in their posts.

Depending on the way a widget is set, it can entirely change the way it looks visually on your website, as well as the information it provides. For example, in the case of the Odds widget, you can choose whether to display the widget header and market selection, transforming it into a variation of the main odds widget.

Do you have commentary on Match widgets?

Yes, when the Match widget is displayed on your website, it offers minute-by-minute comments with information fed directly from the data provider.

For more information, see Widgets → Match widget.

 Can we create custom widgets?

Soon. The option to create custom widgets will be available in the near future.

Get in touch with us for more information.

 Do you support canonical URLs?

Yes, Sportal365 supports canonical URLs.

Canonical URLs are part of the content properties available for optimizing your posts. They are meta tags that tell search engines what specific page to index in cases where you have duplicating or similar content on your website.

See Content properties for specific content titles → URLs.

What kind of content can I follow with the News tracker feature?

The News tracker allows journalists to create feeds and follow their preferred news outlets, video, and social media channels without leaving the Sportal365 CMS.

The News tracker lets you follow:

  • RSS (XM) feeds

  • YouTube channels

  • Twitter accounts

  • Instagram accounts

See News tracker.

Does the Sportal365 show statistics for content?

The Sportal365 CMS’s dashboard lets users view content statistics for individual contributors, all users, or for a specific player, team, or category.

Also, the CMS tracks the number of content items that have been uploaded for the four main content types:

  • Articles

  • Videos

  • Images
